Warsaw

Permanent Residence Card Based on Karta Polaka

A permanent residence permit (pobyt stały) based on the Karta Polaka is intended for foreigners who already hold a valid Polish Card and plan to live in Poland long-term.

From April 27, 2026, standard applications for permanent residence (pobyt stały) are submitted electronically via the MOS 2.0 system. Therefore, it is essential to prepare not only the documents themselves but also their correct electronic versions: scans, photos, translations, and confirmations.

SKILLDOCS helps you complete this process in Warsaw: we verify eligibility, documents, personal data, translations, and support the entire application process via MOS 2.0.

What Permanent Residence Provides

A permanent residence card provides a stable legal status in Poland without the need to regularly apply for temporary residence permits.

Main benefits:

  • Permanent right to stay in Poland
  • No dependence on employer, studies, or business as a basis of stay
  • Access to the Polish labour market without a work permit
  • Possibility to run a business in Poland
  • Travel within the Schengen Area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period
  • A clearer path to Polish citizenship if legal requirements are met
  • Easier long-term family legalization in Poland

Documents for Application via MOS 2.0

For permanent residence based on the Karta Polaka in Warsaw, the key requirement is a valid Karta Polaka, correct personal data, and a complete set of documents prepared for MOS 2.0.

What needs to be prepared:

  • Electronic application for pobyt stały via MOS 2.0
  • Valid passport and digital copies of passport pages
  • Current biometric digital photo
  • Valid Karta Polaka
  • Proof of address in Poland
  • Documents confirming intention to live permanently in Poland
  • Documents related to name changes (marriage, divorce, corrections of records, etc.), if applicable
  • Sworn translations of documents issued outside Poland
  • Additional documents if requested by the immigration office
  • Access to Profil Zaufany, qualified electronic signature, or personal signature for submission

After the launch of MOS 2.0, paper submissions are no longer accepted at the office. If the immigration office requests additional documents, they must be submitted electronically. If a document exists only in paper form, a scan certified as a true copy must be prepared in advance.
